ARES Security Has Partnered with Appendix R Solutions to Add Fire Modeling to Their AVERT All Hazards Software

ARES Security (ASC) has entered into a strategic alliance with Appendix R Solutions (ARS) of Richmond, VA. ARS, a leader in nuclear fire protection, fire PRA’s and fire modeling within the commercial nuclear industry, will collaborate with ARES Security to create a Fire Module for AVERT All Hazards. ASC’s AVERT All Hazards currently simulates the effectiveness of physical security and the damaging effects of tornadoes.

The AVERT family of modeling and simulation software enables customers to optimize their facilities through detailed risk and vulnerability assessments so that they are prepared for any eventuality. With multiple modules that can model a variety of hazards including intentional acts, natural disasters, and other disruptive events, AVERT All Hazards is quickly becoming the number one tool for quantitative risk assessments and will soon be deployed in over 10% of the North American commercial nuclear market. Seismic and riverine flooding modules are also being developed for the software. “The addition of the new Fire Module will provide a probabilistic means to model the impact of fire on both safety and security at a site and demonstrates AVERTS extensibility by integrating with best-of-breed solutions”, says Ben Eazzetta, CEO of ARES Security.

About Appendix R Solutions

ARS was founded in 2000, with the aim of assisting commercial nuclear power stations to develop strategies and programs to comply with fire regulations, their respective license conditions, and their license to operate a nuclear reactor. Appendix R Solutions continues to be a major leader in the transition of fire protection programs to the new risk-informed, performance-based regulations under 10 CFR 50.48(c), the development of fire probabilistic risk analyses under NUREG/CR-6850 and the implementation of the new fire protection programs.
