Position Summary
Candidate will lead an Agile Development team developing security and information management applications with a browser-based front end and back end consisting of Java and C# components. Candidate will work with the product management, marketing and operations teams to design, implement, and test applications to meet the requirements of our customers.
Required Work Experience and Skills
The successful candidate will have a Bachelor’s (Master’s preferred) degree in Computer Science, Physical Sciences, or Engineering, or equivalent work experience, and will have expert knowledge in Java and a solid familiarity with C#. Candidate should have excellent oral and written communication skills and be comfortable working on a geographically distributed team. Candidate should have a passion for software development, as demonstrated by knowledge of current trends, tools, and technologies, and experience with important open-source projects and frameworks, whether on personal projects or on the job. Candidate should be familiar with and prepared to actively engage with an Agile Software development process. Candidate should be an expert at software architecture and capable of designing and implementing improvements to legacy software projects.
Qualifications/Minimum Requirements:
- Experience leading an Agile team of veteran developers
- Experience with development tools such as Ant, Maven, Jenkins, Git, Jira, Gradle, Junit, Bamboo
- Experience with modeling and simulation systems.
- Experience with Computational Geometry algorithms, 3D object representation and interaction

Position Summary
ARES Security Corporation is seeking a security software engineer practitioner with at least 5 years of experience in the Federal or Public Sector environments. ARES is enhancing their security and privacy protection methodologies as an integrated part of DevSecOps capabilities. A security engineer with software development & systems engineering experience is essential for supporting initiatives to develop, implement, and document security controls for both client and internal ARES enterprise architectures. Technical documentation includes content necessary to meet security requirements for implementation descriptions within Security Plans, System Security Plans, policy, procedures, and testing methodologies. This role is critical for ARES compliance in accordance with NIST standards and frameworks for the DFARS NIST SP800-171 and DoD Cybersecurity Maturity Model Compliance (CMMC) program. These same skill sets are critical to quality and compliant software development for clients within the DoD and Federal environments under FISMA and FedRAMP standards.
Major Duties and Responsibilities
- Development of innovative solutions to solve complex technical challenges through a DevSecOps approach
- Understand and use ARES Security design standards and guidelines for developing applications and services
- Implement Micro service-based solutions with a focus on security
- Create RESTful Web services and process data
- Develop full-featured user interfaces based on UI designs and requirements
- Develop APIs and database models to support UI features
- Implement industry standards in cyber security features and protections
- Maintain confidentiality regarding the information being stored and processed
- Evaluate interrelationships between application components and ensure no unintended changes are introduced into the system
- Participate and/or serve as a resource to technical teams within ARES
- Project support for both client and internal ARES security initiatives
- Interpretation of technical security controls for system implementation and configuration
- Formulation of control implementation descriptions for creation of system security plans
- Creation of architecture drawings to define system boundaries for system security plans
- Hands-on execution for testing and configuration of hardware/software such as encryption technology and DISA STIG deployment and configuration
- Participation or leading of system test activities to confirm security controls/requirements implementations are meeting defined objectives
- Implementation and configuration of technical controls or systems in accordance with NIST, FedRAMP, DFARS 171, and CMMC standards
- Coordination with FedRAMP 3PAO and CMMC C3PAO activities for technical controls adjustments and remediation
Secondary Responsibilities
- Collaboration with systems engineers and architects for adjustments to enterprise or security architectures
- Support to security architecture initiatives to meet security controls objectives.
- Participation in design/build work sessions for security controls advisory
- Support for security evidence and artifacts documentation under NIST SP800-53A/171A guidelines
- Support for architecture documentation of ARES internal Security Plans to include participation in architecture strategy concepts
Required Experience and Skills
The following skills and attributes are necessary to be successful in this position:
Preferred Certifications: CISSP, CISM, CGEIT
- Must be familiar with FISMA and FedRAMP with a solid understanding of the NIST Special Publications (SP) and Federal Information Processing Standards (FIPS) series
- Must have a basic background and understanding of information technology, networking, data centers, virtual environments, and cloud architectures
- Basic understanding of operating systems and security baselines (e.g., DISA STIG, CIS, USGCB)
- Experience with vulnerability scanning and penetration testing.

As a Product Designer, you will create product designs and deliver new features and experiences for our AVERT products within our Enterprise Security Platform ecosystem.
